Ray and Joy : Married

July 9, 2009

Shooting Ray and Joy’s wedding was quite the experience. When I first met with them months ago, they told me that they would be getting married in the Tenderloin of San Francisco. When we first met up at the location, I admit I was wondering where on earth in this area could they be getting married? Then popped up the beautiful Oasis that is St. Boniface church.

When I asked them why specifically this church, considering the questionable location,  I was touched to learn that this is in fact the community that both Ray and Joy help to make a better place. This church happens to be the only church that let’s people come in during mass for the homeless to sleep in the pews rather than on the streets. They wanted to share their love and their special day with the community they love and have been trying to hard to help.

When shooting their wedding I truly felt like I was a part of it. I wasn’t just their photographer, I was their friend. Thank you so much Ray and Joy, for letting me be a part of your beautiful day. There was so much love during this day, it was truly an honor to be a part of it.

I had an awesome time shooting with Austin and Kellie a few weeks ago. In my engagement sessions, I always like to pick locations that are close to the couple. Austin happens to work with airplanes, and so we were able to shoot at the Hayward airport where he was working! It was such a unique and different location, and thanks to it made the photographs even more “them”.  Austin and Kellie were hilarious to work with – I can’t wait to shoot their wedding next year!

Also – Rest in peace Ed, Farrah, and Michael.
